20 mistakes in 20 years presentation
I was a keynote speaking at the B2B expo at the start of the year.
My deck was 20 mistakes that have happened in and around my (mostly focusing on marketing) career, not just my mistakes but the learnings and how to get the most out of teams and developing talent and careers.
Here are the tips to take away:
Clear communication is key, in good, bad & indifferent
Explain the why very simply (& briefly)
Learn from mistakes, but also the environment
Breed curiosity and questions
Turn "no stupid questions” into smart questions
Define responsibilities (early)
Emotionally engage with customers (& as importantly staff)
Does it pass the mum test? Then does it pass the troll test?
Focus: Only ever 3 - 5 things max
Engage (especially in the informal)
